The Rosemont Museum was originally the palace where John and Margaret Thatcher raised their family. Construction on the 37-room mansion finished in 1893 and took nearly two years to complete. HGTV and A&E have featured the home on various programs through the years, and many regard the property as one of the crown jewels of Colorado. After 75 years of being a family residence, it was converted into a museum space. Many of the furnishings and decorations that remain inside the home are the same ones that were in place when it was primarily a living space. The museum is open for visitors Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Guided tours are offered on a regular basis.

You’ll find the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum at Pueblo Memorial Airport. The museum houses the largest collection of military and civilian vehicles and aircraft in all of Colorado. Including the outdoor space and both airplane hangers, the museum occupies nearly 85,000 square feet. The museum first opened in June 1927. The first item on display was an A-26  bomber, but it didn’t take long for more vehicles and artifacts to follow. The museum is named after Fred Weisbold, who was the Pueblo city manager at the time. He worked hard to turn this space into a widely-acclaimed attraction that continues to draw thousands of guests to this day. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 pm to 4 pm. On Sundays, they are open in the afternoon from 1 pm until 4 pm.

Lake Pueblo State Park spans 10,000 acres and includes 60 miles of shoreline. Many people enjoy coming to the lake to fish. The mild year-round climate allows guests to come and enjoy the park throughout the year. There are several excellent campsites in the park, along with multiple full-service marinas. Additional water activities include sailing, water skiing, and motor boating. If you prefer to stay on land, you can take advantage of hiking trails that are perfect for mountain biking as well. The museum exists to preserve and promote Southwestern Colorado’s unique heritage. They also sponsor various member organizations that work to tell the story about Pueblo and the surrounding areas. You’ll find a historical library on site with a wide collection of works that shed light on how the city of Pueblo came into existence. The museum also houses several permanent exhibits with various artifacts from the city’s earliest days. The museum is closed on Sundays, but you can come by on Saturday between 10 pm and 4 pm.

Your children will love the hands-on opportunities for fun and learning at the Buell Children’s Museum. Child Magazine recognized the museum as one of the top children’s museums in the entire country. Various exhibits focus on educating children in math, science, and history. Children won’t even realize that they are learning because they are so focused on how much fun they are having. The museum takes up nearly 12,000 square feet across two stories. They are closed on Sundays, but you can come by Tuesday through Saturday between 10 am and 4 pm.

Children find trains fascinating, and adults will also be captivated by what they see at the Pueblo Railway Museum. The museum was founded by the Pueblo Railway Foundation in 2003 to display various railway equipment and promote the preservation of its history. In the late 1800s, Pueblo was a major hub for various rail and steel products. The railway industry helped Pueblo grow into the major metropolitan area that it is today. You’ll learn more about Pueblo’s railways and their impact on the town as a whole when you come to visit the museum. There are even opportunities for guests to come and ride on the trains.
